We are looking for future leaders that can help Meritage continue to grow, set our future strategy and solve our business challenges. Our 10-12 week internship program is designed to help you not only understand what we do but how and why we do it.
INTERNSHIP JOB DESCRIPTIONS
FIELD-BASED INTERNSHIPS
Construction/Project Management
You will learn about the project management aspects of the new home construction process within assigned communities. This includes ensuring homes are delivered within specific cycle times, budget targets are met,and customer quality expectations are achieved.
Customer Care/New Home Warranty
Youwill learn the warranty process and procedures for new home construction. This includes gaining an understanding of the different types of warranty requests and repairs and how to ensure quality with internal and external customer experiences.
Sales Associate/New Home Sales
Youwill learn about the home selling process, home buyer experience, and customer service experience as well as providesales support for the division. This includes learning about the construction process, reviewing available model home options to potential buyers, assisting sales agents and sales counselors.
Land Acquisition
You will learn all about the land acquisition process including searching for land, identifying land, underwriting the land and the closing processes. This includes conducting market research, financial analysis, buyer segmentation and product pairing.
Land Development
Youwill learn about the planning and construction that is required for creating a safe and well-organized parcel of land in preparation for the vertical building phase. This includes conducting property value analysis, learning about construction regulations and zoning ordinances, as well as environmental restrictions.
Marketing
You will learn about the consumer and branding experience,as well as provide general marketing support for a division. This includes learning marketing strategies to drive traffic, assistingwith event coordination for realtors and consumers as well as prepare/coordinate collateral, signage and other marketing materials.
IN-OFFICE INTERNSHIPS
Accounting–You will learn the day to day responsibilities of an accountant. This includes entering journal entries, working on HUDs in high volume environment, assisting with 1099s, month end procedures, helping with reconciliations and attending specific accounting meetings.
Purchasing–You will learn how residential construction procures all labor and materials in a production environment to support all facets of the business. This includes product budget analysis, review of base house cost, options and margins as well as vendor/contract negotiations.
Finance –You will learn the financial metrics the company utilizes to budget, forecast and analyze the business. This includes creating, maintaining and documenting reports and financial data in addition to conducting analysis of the financials, monthly expenses and modeling Pro-Forma's of current communities and new acquisitions.
Strategic Operations–You will learn how to conduct and analyze consumer, market and product research to aid the business in the creation of their land strategy. This includes leveraging excel to perform statistical analysis, update land books and implement consumer surveys.
Information Technology (IT)–Youwill learn the IT security architecture, internal processes and programs to continuously improve the IT security for the company. Vendor coordination for circuit impairment and Microsoft 365 Service Health notification. Perform operations monitoring such as backups, patching. Ensuring system, network and circuit inventory is up to date in Service Now. This also includes reviewing security dashboards: A person sitting at a desk writing on a paper

PEOPLE OPERATIONS
Learning and Development–You will lead and support our enhanced new hire experience by managing project deadlines, details for rollout, curating the digital learning path and providing communications support. This intern will assist in our learning and development, diversity, equity and inclusion and culture departments.
Internal Communications–You will learn the process and value of creating internal communications that enhance operations, employee awareness and engagement. This includes creating a more organized and systematic approach as to how the organization communicates internally.
Benefits and Compensation–Youwill work within the Total Rewards team to support Benefits, Compensation, and People Operations (HR) with researching best practices and recommendations for enhanced benefit offerings. This includesresearching and building campaigns to highlight benefit offerings and increase employee engagement. Assisting with coordination, content collection and maintenance of the Benefits Hub on Mertiage. Net, the company intranet.
